Supporting Individuals

Catering for the individual needs of students is integral to the flexible design of the curriculum. Mercy College Coburg in Melbourne recognises that each student in our Catholic girls' school has unique learning needs and potential. Student progress is measured against curriculum standards in order to gauge and respond to individual development. Class based teaching programs enable students to demonstrate their learning in a number of ways, stages and levels. The educational student support program specifically targets student development in literacy and numeracy and provides tutorial style support to students.

Our approach to individual learning support at our secondary school emphasises personalised learning pathways that respond to diverse student needs. We implement flexible teaching strategies and assessment methods that allow each student to engage with the curriculum at their own pace and level.

Support and enhancement, as well as English as an additional language (EAL), are particular priorities. The school's commitment to supporting students with EAL backgrounds ensures they develop strong communication skills alongside subject-specific learning. These programs recognise that language development and subject learning are interconnected processes.

Learning Support Programs

Mercy College Coburg offers a range of student support services designed to help students  thrive academically and personally. Our literacy and numeracy support initiatives provide targeted intervention for students requiring additional assistance in these foundational areas. These programs are delivered by trained educators who understand learning diversity and tailor their approach to meet individual student needs.

Individual learning plans are developed collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to ensure that support strategies are focused and responsive. We recognise that celebrating learning diversity strengthens our school community and helps every student reach her potential.
